The model TSS uses the heating element itself as an RTD (resistance temperature detector). There is no need for other temperature sensors, no problems with probe placement, and no confusing temperature control tuning for the operator to perform. The model TSS will keep the element temperature at a constant resistance/temperature no matter what the air flow or load. If air flow is cut off, power will be cut back or even turned off within .01 seconds. The element will not burn out. Another advantage is that any change to setpoint, air flow or any load condition will cause the model TSS to make power changes within the same .01 seconds. Changes from a low or no flow condition to full operation setpoint will happen faster due to the heater element being in an “idle” or preheat condition before air flow is applied.
The model TSS-A-11F replaces ARi Stan-Trol (330014D) & Wayneco/Watlow 2 Wire controllers with a standard 1/4 DIN package. TSS-A features Power On, Heater On and Heater Short/Blown Fuse Indication.
The model TSS-B is designed to work with Osram Sylvanian 2.2 & 4.5 Ohm 120 VAC Balco In Line Heaters. Replaces Athena Model 68 Series controls. The TSS-B will instantly limit power to In Line heater when air flow is
reduced, blocked, disconnected or turned off. 240 VAC available.
The model TSS-A is designed to work with Alumel heaters that can reach temperatures hundreds of degrees higher than Balco heaters.
The model TSS can also be used in hot wire packaging applications. This is ideal when an open wire sealing head needs to be controlled. The best temperature for the process can be selected. When the sealing head is removed from the materials the heater is kept at the same output temperature. A pre-heat condition. When the load is applied by placing the heater wire on the next item to be sealed, the TSS instantly responds by providing the correct amount of power to the heater.
