B Series Overview

The Avatar Instruments B series controls are phase angle fired controllers designed to proportionately regulate the voltage to transformer coupled resistive heaters.

Many special high temperature, low voltage heating elements such as tungsten, graphite, silicon carbide and molybdenum can only be used safely on voltages far less than industrial power lines. These low voltage elements are connected to the low voltage or secondary side of a transformer for maximum control and safety. The Avatar B series power controller is connected to the primary or high voltage side of the transformer. This provides smooth, proportional control of the heaters, while maximizing the sine wave of the power line (or power factor).

B1P Features

The B1P series are a cost effective TRIAC power controller designed to drive low voltage, low power single phase transformer primaries. Rated from 120, 240 & 277VAC to 30 Amps. Compact, isolated chassis and isolated 4-20mA input signal make for ease of installation.

All B Series controls come with a 100ms soft start to eliminate transformer saturation and inrush current on start up.

Before ordering, match transformer VA to
heater wattage. Oversized transformers store
power, so shrink proportional band. All B series
transformer drivers have a 100ms soft start to
eliminate transformer saturation.
